Resource Management Supervisor

Basic Function:

  • Responsible for supervising a multi-market workforce overseeing planning, scheduling, and dispatching activities including coordination of training activities, developmental opportunities, performance evaluations, and salary merits.

  • Ensure daily and weekly workplans associated with operating and maintaining gas utility infrastructure and customer facilities (mains, services, regulators, meters, regulating stations, and customer piping and appliances) are followed and compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and company rules and regulations is achieved.

  • Lead work planning meetings and gain high level support to reinforce strategic direction to ensure program compliance, cost targets, and customer care standards are achieved.

  • Ensure compliance will all departmental work procedures, processes and quality assurance metrics.

  • Directs and manages emergency response effort within their assigned area of responsibility.

Representative Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide team direction and support through direct supervision of employees and build strong working relationships with field supervisors and managers.

  • Assist in producing yearly, monthly, and weekly workplans that support corporate objectives through analysis of pending workload and resource availability.

  • Monitors progress for established programs and projects and provides direction when needed to ensure objectives are met.

  • Monitors key performance indicators to meet corporate objectives and ensure all service levels agreements are successfully met while maintaining an ongoing evaluation of procedures to ensure the desired results are achieved.

  • Collaborates with all departments to ensure work plans include and maintain a global perspective through proper resource allocations and staffing levels to achieve desired targets.

  • Collaborates with Utility Business Systems support team during system outages and scheduled maintenance activities to ensure compliance, customer care, and productivity standards are achieved.

  • Develop and implement departmental procedures that enhance team efficiencies, mitigating risks that could negatively impact corporate objective.

  • Train, assist and monitor employees on all departmental and regulatory standards for all LDCs and ensure compliance to organizational policies and procedures.

  • Develop employees through ongoing experience, discussions, and developmental plans to prepare them for future growth opportunities.

  • Generates reports and maintains documentation for departmental, management, and regulatory agencies (NOI, appointment, availability, leak response, etc).

Education and Experience:

Required:

  • High School or GED

  • 2 years working knowledge of Field Operations activities and processes.

  • Proven track record of leadership and obtaining results.

  • Experience working with a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred:

  • BA/BS business related degree.

  • 3-5 years supervisory experience

Equivalent academic education and experience

Skills:

Required:

  • Knowledge – Must possess exentsive knowledge of business practices, trends, and techniques used within each LDC and the natural gas industry. Must have extensive knowledge of general management business practices and techniques.

  • Communication Skills – Must be effective in both verbal and written media with all levels of management, staff, customers, consultants, and developers. Must communicate in a proffesional manner and provide superior customer service with all who interface with Southern Company Gas. Must be able to manage employees by communicating effictively and developing interpersonal skills of employees. Must be able to resolve communication issues between employees and various departments who ineract with Resource Management.

  • Teamwork – Must demonstrate effective working relationships with all levels of employees and customers. Must cooperate with and offer assistance to others including senior management, customers, co-workers, and consultants. Must be able to develop and maintain and productive and self supportive team. Must support and act for the long term benefit of Southern Company Gas.

  • Analytical – Must be able to manage and complete multiple high priority projects and activities with strict time sensitive deadlines. Must possess organizational skills required to manage staff and projects in an effective manner. Must be able to analyze operational and financial reports and make recommendations to senior management. Must be able to analyze market trends and take a proactive approach in applying such trends.

  • Leadership – Must be able to manage projects and resources effectively and efficiently with support of other business leaders. Must be able to effectively lead teams and staff toward corporate targets that achieve revenue goals and establish effective relationships with regulatory officials, customers, and elected officials.

  • Innovation and Creativity – Must be able to demonstrate by example, how to develop and implement innovative programs designed to increase revenues, decrease expenses, establish relationships, insure customer loyalty, and establish Southern Company Gas as a leading provider of energy services.
