Description

The position is responsible for researching vetting new energy efficiency products and services through performing and leading market assessment and technology scanning. The position also manages breakthrough / emerging technologies assessments, demonstration pilots, and market transformation initiative activities with annual budget of approximately $3MM. Further, the position may also assist in the development of other behavioral, market transformation, residential, commercial, income qualified programs and other strategic initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: BA or BS in Marketing, Business, Engineering or a related field.

Preferred: MBA or Master’s degree.

Special Skills:

•MS Office suite (required), Power BI (preferred)

•Experience in Product Development, Product Management or directly related discipline; Experience leading a Product Development group using a gated process.

•Experience in utility marketing, service or sales with a working knowledge of energy efficiency concepts, and marketing communication and promotional experience.

•Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with big-picture, strategic thinking with effective decision-making skills.

Position Related Experience: 3 years of related experience preferably in customer facing or marketing roles.

OR any combination of education and work experience which permits the candidate to meet position work requirements.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstration, Pilot Development and Market Transformation

•Develop and implement strategies for identifying marketable new products/services.

•Ensure products/services support energy efficiency department’s goals in customer satisfaction, savings and regulatory compliance.

•Execute the Stage Gate process to deliver new/enhanced products/services on established project timelines and budgets.

•Establish performance goals and tracking systems to measure the Stage Gate process and other impacts to department goals.

•Manage emerging technologies program and ensure the implementation contractor is conforming to the requirements of statements of work.

•Develop, present emerging technology and market transformation presentations that promote and educate internal and external stakeholders on new innovative technologies in the program.

•Evaluate technologies that meet the Illinois Market Transformation framework. Assist in the development of Market Transformation business plans in determining target markets, market characterization, baseline, and logic model.

Communication and Project Management

•Establish pro forma financial projections for new products/services to support ongoing development business cases.

•Establish routine process for accomplishing gate meetings.

•Document Stage Gate outcomes and ensure information is available to Product Developers and Stakeholders in a timely manner.

•Serve as process owner to develop and continuously improve the Stage Gate process.

•Develop, present UTD and SMP technology review, funding decisions, and presentations on technologies which benefit the portfolio

•Engage and collaborate with other departments to develop the new emerging technologies measures and market transformation initiatives, that leads them thru a deployment plan process and implementation into the portfolio.

•Coordinate emerging technology work paper development and new market transformation initiatives to align with evaluation review and Illinois TRM submittal.

Explanation: The position provides for significant latitude to investigate and research new products and offerings, or market transformation initiatives often requiring independent discussions and interactions with various companies and new partners/product developers and market partners. Managing the day-to-day operations of the Emerging Tech and Market Transformation Programs, with third party vendors.

Task Complexity:

Tasks are straight-forward, routine, and often repetitive.

Tasks are varied and fairly complex.

Assignments are quite varied and highly complex.

Explanation: The position does manage a well-designed “onboarding” process for new emerging technologies submitted to the EEP, and new market transformation initiatives. There are unique pilot designs and efforts that are required to be developed each year and vary in complexity and scope. There is significant latitude in research activities, and following leads/information and assimilating into reports for other key stakeholders.
