EEP Architect Data App Solution
This position is responsible for managing the architecture and implementation of data engineering, analytic solutions, effective design, and ongoing development of the Energy Efficiency energyENGINE data warehouse. The position is also responsible for developing context diagrams, process flows and conceptual documentations. In addition, this position will support and maintain the data solution architecture utilizing the Cloud (Azure) platforms and tools. Responsible for designing and developing solutions involving data sourcing, data quality and delivery utilizing APIs & Web Services. Partners with Southern Company’s Data Security team to onboard new vendors by managing the vendor data security assessment, remediation timelines and designs architectural diagrams.
Additionally, this position will be responsible for management and alignment of solutions across all technology platforms within the Business and Community Development organization. Will work closely with the Southern Company Technology organization to ensure data security and technology compliance.

•5 years’ experience in Microsoft Azure environments
•5 years’ experience with SQL Server 2014 , SQL Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), and/or SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
•5 years’ experience with databases leveraging a Snowflake schema
•5 years of hands-on experience in design and implementation of ETL/ELT frameworks for complex data warehouse projects
•5 years’ experience working with SQL Server in an Azure cloud environment
•Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure Cloud database technologies
•Experience in the design, development, and automation of SSIS packages and SSRS reports utilizing Microsoft Visual Studio 2015/2017/2019
•Experience in all areas of software development including analysis, design, development and support
•Experience with data warehouse technical architectures and ETL/ELT processes
•Experience with Data Quality Services (DQS) to perform data cleansing, matching, and profiling
•Experience with .NET and C#
•Expertise in Data Architecture, Data Modeling, Data Strategy and Roadmap for large and complex organization and systems and implemented large scale end-to-end Data Management & Analytics solutions
•Experience with relational and multi-dimensional data modeling
•Experience with data governance and development of data dictionary
•Experience with the Agile Methodology, DevOps, and/or Lean using concepts such as Continuous Integration
•Experience in advanced analytics such as, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Predictive Analytics
•Experience using a software package or deploying a prediction model for statistical analysis (R, Python, etc)
•Experience with PowerShell

Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering or related field

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Provide analysis services for business data needs and make recommendations for viable solutions
•Build data architecture to support data management strategies to support business intelligence efforts for various stakeholders
•Design and develop ETL and reporting processes using SSIS/SSRS tools based on established enterprise standards
•Document all programming changes and design, system modifications and their associated maintenance
•Leads development of real-time and batch ETL/ELT data processes aligned with business needs
•Determine business requirements, design and implement complex data models
•Collaborate with stakeholders to determine business requirements, design and implement complex data models
•Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively explain technical concepts
•Provide support for Energy Efficiency data warehouse, including monitoring database health to ensure a stable environment as well as diagnosing and resolving database access and performance issues
•Assist in developing the roadmap for data analytics and advanced analytics across the Energy Efficiency Department
•Collaborate with management to prioritize business, information, and technology needs
•Manage and monitor Energy Efficiency Azure infrastructure
•Analyze SQL code and develop/alter stored procedures, triggers, SSIS packages, and SQL jobs
•Support/Develop/Design Reporting and Analytics solutions utilizing SSAS and Power BI
•Experience writing complex queries for ad-hoc requests and data analysis, developing stored procedure, triggers, and functions across varied platforms with T-SQL
•Regularly run query analysis, performance tuning, and maintenance routines
•Manage Azure operational support, design, implementations, and security requirements
•Designs and develops data pipelines, data ingestion and ETL/ELT processes that are scalable, repeatable and secure for stakeholder needs
•Architect SQL Server database structures and objects, fine tune SQL queries for performance and monitor latencies during batch processes
•Design, implement and operate database systems for scalability, extensibility, performance and reliability
•Creates automated, repeatable and stable processes to support data transformation, data load, data movement, and data synchronization
•Design, code, test, and implement technical solutions
•Develop and maintain a clean and consistent database and reporting environment for both internal applications and external client applications
•Determine business requirements, design and implement complex data models
•Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements

Explanation: This position has a significant amount of employee authority to ensure the success of data integration and data integrity for the design and development of reports, dashboards, KPIs, and data extracts. The position will plan and deploy database structures, reports, queries, and stored procedures. They work closely with business stakeholders to interpret and consider multiple courses of action to gather and develop technical requirements. The position is responsibility for the administration, evaluation, security and management of the Energy Efficiency energyENGINE data warehouse.

Explanation: This position will design, develop, and deploy complex ETL/ELT processes for data warehouse data ingestion. The position will review, interpret, and debug complex programming code. The position will manage database and Cloud security, create users, and set appropriate permissions and monitor transaction activity for resource utilization. There is a significant amount of complexity needed to translate technical database issues, requirements, limitations and parameters for management and staff, and understand business work processes and impacts.
