Instrument & Electrical Technician
Inspects, troubleshoots, and maintains electrical power circuits and equipment, control and automation systems, electronic and pneumatic equipment used in gas and/or hydrocarbon storage, pipeline and compressor station operations, leach plant operations, and potential measurement facilities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
•Installs, inspects, maintains, operates, troubleshoots, repairs, calibrates, and adjusts various pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, and electronic devices.
•Installs, programs, troubleshoots, repairs various Programmable Logic (PLC) controls.
•Installs, programs, troubleshoots, repairs various SCADA equipment.
•Perform preventative maintenance checks on compressors, pumps, drivers, and auxiliary equipment.
•Performs Inspection and Maintenance (I&M) Compliance checks on all control systems and components.
•Maintain electrical switch gear and power distribution.
•Install, analyze and repair security/intrusion systems.
•Respond to emergency and operational needs whenever necessary.
•Identify and report safety and environmental concerns.
•Completes appropriate documentation and paperwork.
•Intermediate computer skills with MS operating system and current MS Office applications, and quick to learn other applications (i.e., company software).
•Associates degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience.
•Five years’ work experience in instrumentation, electronics and control systems.
•Working experience with low and high-pressure water pumps, electronic equipment, high pressure gas, processing equipment and reciprocating engines and compressors.
•Experience preparing drawings of electrical circuits.
•Working knowledge of National Electric Code.
•Experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams.
•Process controls and understanding of gas and liquid processing fundamentals.
•Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high-pressure systems.
•Experience applying and interpreting results from common electrical measurement instruments (voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, calibration instruments, etc.).
•Valid driver’s license and safe driver’s record.
•Lift and carry medium to heavy weight items.
•Reach overhead for items, stoop, bend, and twist while working.
•Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds of force frequently.
•Other physical activities include crouching, talking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions.
•Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to operate a computer.
The person in this position is required to work for extended periods of time in varied weather conditions. May be required to work periodically away from assigned location.
